BRIAN’S 100 BEST ’19: POTATO CHIPS from MOUNTAIN SWEET BERRY FARM AT THE UNION SQUARE GREENMARKET

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2019…

I hadn’t been through the Union Square Greenmarket in a while and one of the farm stands totally got me this time through. Mountain Sweet Berry Farm had out free samples of their homemade potato chips. What intrigued me is that they had three different varieties available based on different potatoes. I mostly wanted to taste to see if I could tell a difference. Only slightly. But all three were so good that I first walked away resisting and then a few minutes later, something brought me back and I took home three bags. These were the most crisp, sweetest, freshest, most addicting potato chips I’ve ever tasted. And since they come from a farm, they must be healthy, right? Right? Price: $4 or 3 for $10
