I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2019…
It seemed to me a bit of a stretch for a new restaurant to incorporate flowers into all their dishes. But that is the premise behind Il Fiorista. Some of their dishes actually work really well, others less so. But I really enjoyed a unique spin on a Negroni. The Hopping Mad included Genever (gin’s grandmother), aloe, hops, grapefruit, rose, and lime. It had a grapefruit bitter quality that was rounded out by the sweetness of the genever and the richness of the aloe. Very unique. Makes me want to drink more flowers. Price: $16
