BRIAN’S 100 BEST ’19: CARROT DOG at BY CHLOE

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2019…

It looks like the carrot dog is no longer offered at the hype machine vegan restaurant By Chloe. Perhaps it was from the critical backlash or it was just a special promotion. But I actually do hope these carrot dogs made by Ducks Eatery’s Will Horowitz find their way back into the mainstream because I found them really exciting. I really didn’t know what to make of the carrot dog upon first observation. It looked pretty wrinkly and a bit too orange to be an actual hot dog.
But when I bit into it, my mind was at a loss. This thing had that salty, garlicky, smoky flavor that I expect from a real hot dog. And that in itself is a feat.
