100 BEST ’18: GARLIC FLOWER BREAD at MADONIA BAKERY

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2018…

I go to Madonia Bakery regularly on the Arthur Avenue Food tour that I lead, but I only recently noticed this crown-like loaf of bread. It’s only available as a special Wednesday-Sunday and if you see it, you must get it. It’s basically a garlic bread pie which sounds great on its own but when you realize these buttery garlicky knots are some of the best in the city, you just got very lucky.
