100 BEST ’18: UCCELLI BITTER APERITIVO

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2018…

What intrigued me most about this inventive bitter aperitivo is not that it was blue, but that the blue color comes from all natural ingredients (herbs, flowers, etc.). Those ingredients are a close kept secret of the local producers behind Uncouth Vermouth and Atsby who collaborated to create this exciting new liqueur. The flavor is certainly not for the uninitiated and if you don’t like herbal, minty, floral notes, this might not be for you. But I really enjoyed sipping it on ice with some sparkling wine. I bet some local bartenders are also creating unique cocktails with it as well. And they too would be a hypnotic all-natural blue. Price: $29.99
