BRIAN’S 100 BEST ’19: UZBEK PLOV at NARGIS CAFE

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2019…

Sadly sometimes a restaurant closes before I get to write about their amazing food. That was sort of the case with Nargis Cafe and their signature dish. The Uzbeki restaurant still has their original location in Sheepshead Bay, but I tried it at their short-lived Park Slope location. The pilaf was expertly prepared with earthy basmati rice topped with sweet cooked onions, carrots, and generous chunks of tender gamey lamb. And while you can’t get it in Park Slope any longer, I’m sure it’s just as good or even better further out in Brooklyn. Price: $12.50
