THE PLACE: While wandering around scouting a brand new food tour, I discovered a little stand outside the famous Phil-Am Food Mart. This is a weekend pop-up that is not officially related to the Filipino market, but of course, is selling street food that would appeal to the market’s customers. And don’t worry, they absolutely have the mart’s permission and blessing. This is the kind of business I would expect to pop-up at the Vendy Awards, if only those street food awards were still happening

THE MENU: Boy Isaw, as the business is called, specializes in skewers of isaw (intestines) and pork siomai dumplings. I found the plump dumplings delicious, but the sticks even more memorable. You can get three for $10, ranging from beef to pork to chicken.
THE DISH: I think because I was clearly not Pinoy (Filipnio), I was handed the less adventurous Chicken BBQ sticks. These were all about the marinade and the smokiness from the grill. As I have come to expect from Filipino cuisine, this was sweet and tangy (think ketchup meets vinegar) and pretty addicting. It’s too easy to eat all three skewers. Next time, I’m going full isaw. Price: 3 for $10.
