The Place: You know you’ve hit a goldmine when you see locals lining up alongside tourists at a divey seafood spot. Locust Point Steamers felt legit and far enough away from the tourist section of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
We were here for the weekend and local steamed crabs were high on my must-eat list. Locust Point Steamers, from its neighborhood charm, rooftop seating, and Orioles memorabilia, was the kind of place I wanted to be at for our one dinner in Charm City.
The place was fast, spacious (it’s three floors), and loud with the sound of mallets hitting the table every so often.

The Dish: The mallets are used to crack open the shell of the Hot Steamed Crabs. These local blue crabs come in multiple sizes and are plunked right down on the paper lined table top covered in the traditional Old Bay seasoning.
With your trusty mallet, you’re on your own to break open the shell and suck out the sweet meat. I love how the salty, spicy seasoning mixes with the buttery meat. The seasoning here might have been a bit heavy-handed, but nobody could accuse these little critters of being bland. It’s true Maryland local flavor. Price: Market Price
