Beer DISH OF THE WEEK

NYC BEST DISH OF THE WEEK: Orange Blossom IPA from BACK HOME BEER

Sound the alarms! The best new brewery in NYC is one that has been flying under-the-radar and sadly does not yet have a physical location for you to drink all their beers. That’s why I recommend stocking up on their five offerings to date and doing a tasting at home.

Back Home Beer is an Iranian female-owned brewery based in Brooklyn that combines the classic flavors of Persian history with modern craft brewing methods.

I have tried three of their beers so far and my favorite (by a slim margin) is a unique IPA that contains an ingredient I don’t normally fluctuate towards. Orange blossom is a strong flavor I can sometimes tolerate, but can also be off-putting in sweet floral desserts.

In this IPA, it is magical.

The floral subtle aromatic notes mingle with citrusy hops in a slightly hazy body. It was so easy to drink, giving off hints of flowers and light juicy peach flavors. The orange blossom melds with the natural ingredients of the beer and transforms the experience into something both heady and visceral.

I can not wait to see what Back Home Beer tries next. And when they finally open their tasting room, I’ll be the first in line.

Is Back Home Beer’s Orange Blossom IPA the best beer in NY? It’s an absolute dream – balanced, floral, sweet with a nice fruity hop quality. 10 out of 10.
