BRIAN’S 100 BEST ’19: HIB HOB at ICONYC BREWING

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2019…

Since I reviewed their brewery, IcoNYC has opened up a new tasting room in Long Island City. One of the beers you should definitely try (if you can still find it), is the ruby red Hib Hob. It features tart hibiscus up front that allows floral, grassy, and even briny flavors to open up. I actually got some lovely dill notes and a hint of funk. They use the Sorachi ace hop in this beer which is known for its lemongrass qualities so that may have been what I tasted. But I liked the idea of dill. It was a layered beer and worth seeking out in the new space.
