BRIAN'S 100 Best '18 Ice Cream

100 BEST ’18: BOOZA at REPUBLIC OF BOOZA

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2018…

I meant to put out a proper review of the wacky international ice cream shop that opened this year selling booza. Booza doesn’t get you drunk but will certainly put a smile on your face. The Middle Eastern ice cream is thickened with sahlab (a root) and mastic (a resin) to produce a stretchy, gummy sensation. The intense flavors are the product of the mad ice cream scientists behind the business. You can’t go wrong with the original Qashta (candied cream), but don’t miss Salted Oreo and Sichuan White Peppercorn. Price: $5.25-$8.25
