Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City
I’ve tried Fifth Hammer’s Troublesome Jellyfish beer twice now. The first time it was handed to me by Chris Cuzme, the owner and brewer of Fifth Hammer. He instructed me to not wait too long to try it. I didn’t and it was great.
So great in fact that I decided to purchase it a second time when they had a second special release of the beer recently and bring it over to a family get together. It was the hit of the party.
This is a New England-style IPA made with a double dry hop of Mosaic and Motueka varieties. It’s got a thick mouthfeel but goes down so smooth. It basically tastes like pineapple juice with barely a hint of alcohol. And at 7.7% ABV, that can be quite dangerous.
This is a special can release that is only available at the brewery and only while supplies last. Unless of course they bring it back a third time, which if everyone loves it as much as I do, seems very likely. One can only hope. Price: $19 per 4 pack
Is Fifth Hammer’s Troublesome Jellyfish the best beer in NY? It’s been a long while since I’ve given a beer a perfect 10 out of10, but this balanced juicy tropical elixir is certainly worth it.
