he Vendys is just one day away. Tickets are old out, but you can get a good idea of the nominees from this series of short videos I’ve produced. Here are the final four:
Ramen Burger
The ramen burger is definitely one of the most famous dishes produced in the last few years. The lines of foodies form every weekend at Smorgasburg, but now you can also get a taste at Keizo Shimamoto’s permanent locations at Berg’n and in the Financial District. His innovative mash-up has earned him a Vendy nomination for Market Vendor of the year.
Craffles
A group of friends brought together two of the most popular street foods in the world and have put it on one truck. Craffles serves both gourmet French crepes and Belgian waffles to hungry New Yorkers. They come in both sweet and savory versions so you can have a craffle anytime of the day.
Dub Pies
In Australia and New Zealand, savory meat pies are as ubiquitous from mobile food vehicles as hot dogs and pretzels are in New York City. Gareth Hughes has expanded his Brooklyn shop to this Rookie of the Year nominated truck giving us a taste of down under.
Ricas Botanas Mexicanas
Outr in Corona, Queen, Claudia Lopez has been frying up Mexican snacks for twenty years. She’s finally honored with a Vendy Award nomination for Best Dessert for her amazingly fresh churros that are fried-to-order until crispy and light.
