Come back every Wednesday for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures. In Locals Know, I explore a new city through the tours of Urban Adventures.

In New York, we have artsy and diverse neighborhoods like Williamsburg, Astoria, and the Lower East Side. They are incredible places. But I wish we had the colorful and food-centric enclave called Kensington Market. That one is in Toronto.

Since it’s adjacent to the city’s Chinatown, it makes sense that Toronto Urban Adventures hosts a tour of the two neighborhoods together – Kensington Market & Chinatown. It’s a great way to explore the awesome street art hidden down secret alleys, meet some of the locals who populate the bohemian area, and get a sense of which restaurants and food shops are the ones to visit.

Watch the newest episode of Locals Know to see what the tour is all about and then get more info about it by clicking here. Toronto is a very quick plane ride away and if you’ve never been or it’s been a while, you owe yourself at least a weekend away. It’s a really cool town!

Come back every Wednesday for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures. In Locals Know, I explore a new city through the tours of Urban Adventures.

Beyond Broadway is New York Urban Adventures’ newest tour and it’s the perfect one to document in the first episode of what I hope to be a long-running webseries.

All over the world, Urban Adventures tours are all about getting away from the touristy areas and putting down the guide books in order to get a true, local flavor of a city. At first glance, it almost seems impossible to make that local experience a reality in the overcrowded tourist-filled neighborhood of Midtown, but we show you it’s possible.

Check out the video below that documents a bit of the tour and learn more about it here.

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2015…

Cold Brew "Mizudashi" Iced Coffee at HI-COLLAR

Hi-Collar is a really unusual place. Modeled after Japanese tea and coffee parlors, it is a bar for breakfast and lunch (like rice-stuffed omelets topped with ketchup) with fantastic tea and coffee. But at night, the bar switches over to accommodate sake drinkers and features interesting cocktails made with the rice wine. I’ve only been here in daylight hours and was very impressed with their rich and chocolatey cold brew, made with the Mizudashi method. If you’ve never tried the low-acidity full-bodied coffee style, this is one of the best places in the city to do so. And then slip some sake in there after work!! Price: $3.50

Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

EVERYMAN ESPRESSO, 301 West Broadway (between Grand Street and Canal Street), SohoCoffee cocktails are a thing nowadays. And I don’t mean an alcoholic beverage with coffee in it. I’m talking about using coffee as if it was a base spirit and mix, stir, or shake it up with all sorts of other ingredients. You thought cappucinos were ingenious, these are even more so.

Have you ever wondered what I do all day? The answer is simple: I walk and I eat.

One of the tour companies I work for having documented their guides in their neighborhoods talking about their favorite places. Since I’m a rambling man, I decided to have the camera follow me through a typical day in Lower Manhattan. We hit my favorite coffee shop, some great dim sum, a very cheap beer store, and two dessert spots. Just another typical day in the life.
