100 BEST ’17: GREEN CHICKPEA HUMMUS at ABCV

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2017…

What is a green chickpea you ask? They’re actually fresh chickpeas that have not been ripened. They taste and look a little like edamame. Leave it to Jean-Georges’ trendy new vegetarian temple to introduce them to a wider audience. The hummus is herbal and bright with hints of lemon and a garnish of Thai basil. Served with a side of home baked pita or raw crudites, it’s too easy to clean the plate. And somehow it’s good for you! Price: $15

  1. I LOVE this place! The sweet potato brunch bowl and the dosa with avocado have been amazing, but there’s been so much hummus in my life of being a vegetarian that it never occurred to me to order this- it sounds really unique and tasty!
