Video: NYC FOOD CART TOUR: 2014 Vendy Awards Nominees, Part 2

The Vendys are just over a week away. Tickets are still available for purchase here. It’s seriously the greatest day of the year. In anticipation, I’m producing short videos on each of the nominated vendors. Here are three more nominees:

Snowday

Snowday is unlike any other food truck out there. Not only are they dedicated to serving maple syrup inspired dishes (like maple slushies and maple infused grilled cheese), but through their program Drive Change, they only employee formerly incarcerated youths giving those young people a positive direction. Learn more about them here and find them at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Long Island City, or Governor’s Island.

Chickpea & Olive

We all love American diner food, but usually the vegetarians and vegans miss out on all that cholesterol and fat. Daniel Strong and Danielle Ricciardi are making burgers, sliders, and BLTs with beets and brown rice. I challenge you to taste the difference. You can find their killer sandwiches at Smorgasburg every weekend in the summer.

Ice & Vice

I’d be fine if I never ate a scoop of vanilla ice cream again. Let’s find some exciting and experimental flavors to put in our ice cream. That’s what Ice & Vice focuses on – even their vanilla is infused with Mexican black sea salt. Their stand at LIC Fle & Food is nominated for best dessert.
