A few months ago, I was contacted to audition for an upcoming cable food show called The Bucket List. It was all about food you got to try before you die. The instructions were to follow the script and pick a favorite restaurant that I thought was worthy of this distinction.
No question that the smoked meat from Mile End was where I would go. I got in touch with Rae Cohen and Noah Bernamoff, the owners of this new Montreal restaurant in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. They were so incredibly nice and gracious to allow me to spend a weekend eating and filming this little video.
So here it is, my audition video. For the record, I don’t think I got the part as I should have heard by now. But it was a fun experience (it was the main reason I shaved my beard) and I learned a lot so that when the next cable show comes calling, I’m ready to book it!

And Mile End sounds great! I know several of my friends really like their food. One ordered the poutine–which, while it sounds interesting in “oh that is so bad” sort of way, just doesn’t really appeal to me. The smoked meat, however, really sounds fantastic!
That was such a great audition! But, I have to admit that I am so jealous that you got a chance to host a show that would be so amazing (I’m a huge bucket lister)!

The poutine and the smoked meat and the salmon and the salami are all delicious. Everything here is delicious. I highly recommend it!
