Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

FOSTER SUNDRY, 215 Kinckerboxer Avenue (at Troutman Street), Bushwick, Brooklyn

I never rest – even on Thanksgiving. Maybe because especially on Thanksgiving there is a lot to eat. And I spent the last week trying to find some amazing dish that would be appropriate for the big day’s Dish of the Week.

In previous years, I found some great turkey burgers and turkey sandwiches. That would be the obvious thing, but this year I accidentally stumbled upon a sandwich that was crazier than I could even imagine.

Come back every Wednesday for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures.

Christmas cookies can sometimes be a waste of calories. Boring, bland, predictable. That’s what I’ve always thought, but one night I was visited by three spirits who showed me the way and taught me the true meaning of Christmas cookies.

Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

Zucker Bakery, 433 East 9th Street (between First Avenue and Avenue A), East VillageI don’t normally post an entry on a major holiday like Thanksgiving – especially the one year it happens to fall on the exact same day as the first day of another major holiday (Hanukkah) resulting in a once-in-a-lifetime mega holiday. Of course, everybody has heard about Thanksgivukkah by now. Heck, I even made a video about it.

And while I’m slaving away over a hot stove trying my hand at wacky hybrid combinations like pecan pie rugelach and brussels sprout latkes, Zucker Bakery in the East Village has already made the most perfect Thanksgivukkah dish.

A once in a lifetime occurence happens this year as Thanksgiving and Chanukkah fall on the same day. To celebrate both holidays at the exact same moment, I bring my friend Jonathan to explore the culinary holiday possibilities at Ess-a-Bagel.

Now that I’ve eaten my way through somebody else’s list (Time Out New York), I’m ready to compile my own 100 spectacular things I’ve tasted in 2012. Look for another five dishes every few days.

NUMBER 75: THANKSGIVING CROISSANT at MILK BAR

There are some dishes that get lots of press, but if you don’t hurry up and taste them, they’ll be gone before you know it. With a great focus on seasonal ingredients, the high mortality rate of restaurants in this city, and the popularity of special promotional creations, there is no hesitating allowed when it comes to New York food.

Here’s a dish you can get right this minute (but not much longer). While I’m not a big fan of Momofuku Milk Bar’s desserts, this savory creation is the best Thanksgiving meal you’ll ever have inside a hot pocket. A browned and flaky croissant is flavored with herb (sage, thyme, etc.) butter and holds a treasure trove of Thanksgiving flavors: roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, and peppery gravy. Stop what you’re doing and go grab one before it’s too late. Price: $4.50

Somehow Thanksgiving has arrived. And while you’re sifting through recipes or cleaning the house for guests, you should take a moment to check out my latest video. Since the turkey holiday is all about family, I invited my mother and father to join me in my search for Certé’s special November sandwich called Getting Thanks. It’s a delightful spin on the usual turkey sandwich. Watch the food porn and the Jewish guilt ensue.
