Come back every Wednesday for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures. On Locals Know, I explore a new city through the tours of Urban Adventures.

I’m taking a break from Europe for just a second and traveling to the other side of the world for the next episode of Locals Know. Back to South America in Peru. I got to dive into the culture of Lima while on the coast, but up in the mountains, things were a little different.

Before or after you head to Machu Picchu (which you should!!), you need to spend some time trying to catch your breath in the charming town of Cusco. And Liliana from Cusco Urban Adventures is more than happy to introduce you to some out-of-town ruins and the bustling San Pedro Market. She got us into the city and out into the country and gave us a real sense of both modern and ancient life on this awesome tour.

What’s not to love about Paris? It’s grand, romantic, and incredibly delicious. While you got to come here and get views of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, you also want to get in to some of the hips neighborhood where locals hang out and that’s what I did on the Gourmet Marais tour.

On the newest episode of Locals Know, I get a taste of the classics with Paris Urban Adventures in the historic and hip neighborhood of Marais with my local guide Adele. She takes us shopping along the vibrant streets for baguettes, meats, pastries, and of course, wine. We discover this is where the cool kids have always hung out and after experiencing this tour, I totally understand why.

I’ve been to Lisbon more than any other city in Europe. I have truly been seduced by the beauty, the food, and the people of this great historic capital. But it wasn’t until I took the Experience Lisbon Walk that I really got under the skin of this city.

My guide Sofia from Lisbon Urban Adventures uncovered all the secret spots from a local pastry shop to a miradouro with killer views to the best seafood restaurant on the other side of the river.  It’s featured on the latest episode of Locals Know. And after watching this video over and over again, I can’t wait to visit Lisbon one more time and experience it the way only a local can.

Most people think of Athens and they think of history – the Acropolis, Parthenon, and other ancient ruins. And when you visit Athens, you have to see those. But the city is full of modern secrets that is difficult to discover on your own.

On the next episode of Locals Know, award winning guide Nikoleta from Athens Urban Adventures, took me to secret coffee shops, through alleys decked with street art, up to a surprising rooftop bar, and around the modern side of this very vibrant city all while revealing the Bohemian Tales of the City.

Along the Danube River sits a great capital with stunning architecture and hidden surprises. I’m not talking about Vienna or Budapest. Everybody knows about those cities. Bratislava is a somewhat undiscovered gem that has all these things and more. And because it is much smaller than the others, it feels much more manageable and quaint.

But like most cities, the tourists gather in the main part of town. I got to see so much more of Bratislava than most visitors ever do because I met up with Lukas from Urban Adventures who let me in on the Local Secrets of Bratislava. We visited a modern brewery run by punk rockers, had a picnic with incredible sites, and took a trolley to a beautiful neighborhood that I never would have discovered if it wasn’t for my local guide.

Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

There are seven different businesses around Arthur Avenue in the Bronx that make their own mozzarella daily. That’s an insane number of places committed to quality cheese in a small block radius.

For those that don’t realize it, Arthur Avenue is the real Little Italy of New York – with more third generation owned businesses than any other neighborhood. This is the place to come for quality Italian sausage, cheese, sandwiches, and dinners. And it’s all ridiculously cheap.

At Urban Adventures, we just launched a new Arthur Avenue Food Tour (it’s run by a couple who grew up there and have strong connections to the neighborhood). I was fortunate enough to train on the tour so I can give it when they are out of town. And it might have been my favorite training for any tour ever.
