Come back on Wednesdays for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures. In Locals Know, I explore a new city through the tours of Urban Adventures.

I’ve been to Lisbon more than any other city in Europe. I have truly been seduced by the beauty, the food, and the people of this great historic capital. But it wasn’t until I took the Experience Lisbon Walk that I really got under the skin of this city.

My guide Sofia from Lisbon Urban Adventures uncovered all the secret spots from a local pastry shop to a miradouro with killer views to the best seafood restaurant on the other side of the river.  It’s featured on the latest episode of Locals Know. And after watching this video over and over again, I can’t wait to visit Lisbon one more time and experience it the way only a local can.

Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

img_0681 I’m doing something I’ve never done before on this blog. And that’s because I just came back from an adventure that was unlike anything I’ve ever done before in my life. For six weeks of the summer, I was travelling around Europe meeting wonderful locals and eating amazing food. And I got paid for it!!

The real reason I was there was to make videos on some Urban Adventure tours. Stay tuned for 14 new episodes of Locals Know. But until then, to whet your appetite (and for me to re-live my incredible dream-come-true journey), I’ve decided to document the food I ate in each city.

So instead of picking just one dish of the week this week, I’m going to pick 14 – one for each city I visited.

I bring my sense of food adventure with me on the road, searching for the most authentic, iconic, and delicious dishes of a different region…

Fight to the DeathI knew I’d have my fair share of seafood in Boston, but I didn’t realize it would practically be my entire diet for a week. I like to eat the local, iconic food in a city and what else is there really to eat in Boston?

That was my dilemma when researching the possibility of filming an Eat This episode in Beantown (the episode launches tomorrow). Not to bring up a sore subject, but New York has very obvious iconic food. Boston?  Not so much. Even when I asked people from Boston what “the food” of that city is, it took some serious thinking to come up with an answer. Chowder, roast beef, Italian food, what?

SADLY, LOURO IS NOW CLOSED.

LOURO, 142 West 10th Street (between Waverly Place and Greenwich Avenue), West VillageMy falafel journey has brought me to many different Middle Eastern restaurants around the five boroughs. But in my adventures, I haven’t spent more than $10 on a falafel order. Fried chickpea fritters are cheap and accessible. So I’m often leery of upscale falafel on restaurant menus.

We can’t let Hurricane Sandy ruin all our Halloween fun. Last week, I visited City Sandwich to get a taste of their terrifying (but delicious) blood sausage sandwich. The only person who was brave enough to join me was a mysterious stranger named Vlad. Check out the video below for a bloody good time.

For the third year in a row, I’m going to attempt to eat every single item on Time Out New York’s annual 100 Best Dishes list. In no particular order, here’s my take on their Top 100. Let the gluttony continue…

Back in my “actor days,” I spent lots of time at the restaurants along Ninth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s just a few blocks away from most of the Broadway theaters (where I wasted too many nights seeing many mediocre performances) and the food options are pretty eclectic. It’s no longer my food destination of choice, but there are still some good restaurants along that strip.
