I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2016…

I love bubble tea as much as the next guy but I don’t really indulge very often because it can tend to be ovely sweet and too milky for my tastes. That’s until I discovered Boba Guys, the California import that are making their own tapioca balls and allowing you to customize everything from sweetness level to types of milk. Price Varies.

My search for the best beer in New York continues….

THE OWL FARM, 297 9th Street (between 4th and 5th Avenue), Park Slope, BrooklynWow, I have not put in a beer review in a long time. And that’s crazy because craft beer is more uniquitous to New York than ever before. There are now 27 breweries across all five boroughs and that number literally changes every week.
One of the newest to open has been making quite a splash at craft beer bars across Brooklyn. It’s called Interboro Spirits and Ales and they are not only making craft beer in their Bushwick facility, but will also be distilling whiskeys as well.

Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

KOBRICK COFFEE CO., 24 Ninth Avenue (between West 13th and West 14th Street), Meatpacking DistrictI love coffee, but I can only drink so much before it manages to keep me up all night. I also love cocktails, but I can only drink so many before I completely pass out. The solution?? Coffee cocktails!!!

I’m only half kidding as I don’t want my heart to explode, but that might have been thinking at Kobrick Coffee Co.

Last year, the almost century-old coffee roaster and wholesaler opened up a bar and café in the heart of the fashionable Meatpacking District. The idea is that during the day, coffee reigns supreme and you can get a selection of beans brewed many different ways. But also, this is a full-on cocktail bar. And get this: an entire page of the cocktail menu is dedicated to coffee cocktails.

Come back every Wednesday for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures. In Locals Know, I explore a new city through the tours of Urban Adventures.

Last year, I helped design a tour for Urban Adventures that has been a huge success (if I do say so myself). It involves cocktails, so how could it be bad?

I lead the tour pretty regularly but we have about three other guides that also do a great job with it. So on the latest episode of Locals Know, I experience the New York Craft Cocktail tour from a brand new perspective thanks to Josh. Watch the video below to get a sense of the tour and watch us discover hidden bars, new speakeasies, and drink a whole lots of well-crafted cocktails.

BIRRERIA, 200 Fifth Avenue (between 23rd and 24th Street), 14th Floor

It’s been a while since I’ve visited Manhattan’s most centrally located brewery. It’s also a beer destination that many never think about. That’s because Birreria is hidden on the rooftop of the very popular Italian mega-grocer Eataly. But up here, a handful of brewers make some really unique cask-conditioned ales to pair with the restaurant’s seasonal menu.

Most of their beers feature surprising herbs, fruits, or vegetables in the brew and it makes for a refreshing and culinary-focused experience.

At any given time, they only have three housemade beers on tap. Two are usually seasonal and the other is one of their “flagship” beers. One that has been floating around for a while, but I never got a taste of is the Gina. (more…)

Come back every Wednesday for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures. In Locals Know, I explore a new city through the tours of Urban Adventures.

I just returned from an amazing trip to Peru. And while there, I had to meet up with the local branch of the tour company I work for, Urban Adventures.

Just like here in New York, the guides at Urban Adventures in the capital of Lima get you away from the touristy areas and into a local neighborhood. On the Lima Discovery Tour, you are able to have one-of-a-kind experiences like chatting with locals, exploring the vibrant markets, and sipping an iconic pisco sour in the hotel that created it.

Get a flavor of the tour in the video below and learn more about it here. Anyone planning a trip to Peru?
