BROOKLYN POUR 2015

One of my favorite events every year is Village Voice’s Brooklyn Pour. It’s a great way to explore and celebrate the ever-growing craft beer scene in New York City. So many local breweries have popped up in the last few years that it has become difficult for me to keep up.

Brooklyn Pour brings them to one place and with the purchase of a ticket, you can sample beers from them and over 25 different breweries from around the country. This year the event is moving from Fort Greene to the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint and will take place from 3:00-6:00pm with early bird VIP ticket options available.

Breweries will include old-school local ones like Sixpoint, Singlecut, and Captain Lawrence right alongside the newer guys like Braven and War Flag Brewery. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the website here.

Every week, I document another dish that impressed and satiated me during my food adventures around New York City

Village Voice's BROOKLYN POUROnce again, the beer lovers of New York descended on the beautiful Skylight Hanson One in Fort Greene for Village Voice’s annual Brooklyn Pour. I was invited and although my Saturday afternoon was booked with tours, movie screeings, and a dinner event, I somehow managed to slip in at least 45 minutes of celebrating the new and exciting world of local beer.

Brooklyn Pour

Since Brooklyn Pour, Village Voice’s annual celebration of craft beer occured just under a year ago, New York City has become a major brewing city for the first time since before Prohibition. At last year’s Brooklyn Pour, there were a couple of new exciting local offerings (Grimm Ales, City Island), but this year, it will be a full on party.

Expect beers from all five boroughs, including Staten Island’s Flagship, Queens’ yeast-forward Transmitter, Gun Hill (the first new brewery to open in the Bronx), Birreria in Manhattan’s Eataly, and a Brooklyn brewery that is so new it’s not even open yet – Braven.

Brooklyn Pour will begin pouring at 3pm this Saturday, September 27. Tickets are $55 for general admission and includes samples from over 100 breweries. The event will once again happen at beautiful Skylight One Hanson in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. For more information and tickets, visit the website here.

Village Voice's BROOKLYN POURLast weekend, Village Voice hosted another one of their monster tasting events. These are endlessly fun and allow somebody as indecisive as me to taste as many things as my body can handle. This event was the annual Brooklyn Pour at Skylight One Hanson in Fort Green and it was a huge succes. The only problem I had is that I’m a lightweight and I can only taste so much beer before my shirt ends up over my head.
