BAR PRIMI, 325 Bowery (at East 2nd Street), NohoMy newest scheme is to visit some of the hottest restaurants in New York City at lunchtime. I’m often free after my tours, hungry, and these places are much easier to get into at lunch, sometimes the prices are even lower, and the lighting for my food photos is far superior.

Roast Beef Sandwich at BAR PRIMIBar Primi is a hip, affordable house for great pasta, but don’t ignore their sandwich. In classic Italian-style, house roasted beef is sliced thin and piled high on seeded bun with Italian peppers, melted provolone cheese, and a garden of arugula. It’s a worthy alternative to their excellent pastas. Price: $16
