100 BEST ’17: SMOKED BLACK COD BAKED POTATO at MEKELBURG’S

Baked potatoes always felt like an easy way out when it comes to cooking potatoes and they’re too big for a snack and not substantial enough for a meal. And frankly, they’re pretty boring. Mekelburg’s proves me wrong at every end. These salt baked tubers are tender and tasty on their own, but are taken to another level with the addition of créme fraiche, dill, black caviar, and bits of smoked black cod. It’s complex and luxurious and somehow manages to be the perfect meal. I love to be proven wrong. Price: $12
