100 BEST ’16: COCONUT CRAB CURRY at FISH CHEEKS

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2016…

I really loved my meals at Fish Cheeks this year. Surprisingly there are not one or two dishes that made this list but three, The Coconut Crab Curry is probably the one that has gotten the most attention for its fieriness. I thought it was rather spicy but it was the complex bitter, herbal notes (from betel leaves) and the plentiful delicate sweet crab meat that really made this dish sing. It’s balanced with some creamy coconut milk and a boatload of other exotic spices. Price: $22

  1. This is my favorite in New York now, thanks for the recommendation. Yumm… will come there only for this dish now…

  2. So glad you liked it. There were actually three dishes from Fish Cheeks that made my Top 100. It’s worth exploring the menu – everything I’ve tasted has been great!
