AROUND THE WORLD IN ONE CITY: Greece

Come back every Wednesday for another funny, informative video documenting my inept food adventures. In Locals Know, I explore a new city through the tours of Urban Adventures.

This one has been a long time coming. I am so excited to finally unveil the first episode of a new webseries I have been working on.

It’s pretty obvious to anyone that lives in New York that you can travel around the world with just a Metrocard. There are so many immigrant enclaves in this city where the culture and food is as authentic as can be. So I thought I’d make it my mission to try to travel the world without ever leaving New York. It’s a lot cheaper than buying a plane ticket, believe me.

In each episode of Around the World in One City, I’ll visit another neighborhood, food shops, sites, and restaurants with someone who is originally from that particular country. Until I have a show that lets me travel the world, I’ll make do with the diverse resources I have available right here.

For my inaugural episode, I meet up with Nick Karagiorgos, a friend of mine who happens to be the owner of Uncle Gussy’s food truck in Midtown. His family is from Greece and he grew up in the very Greek neighborhood of Astoria. He takes me on a tour of Titan Foods, where we learn about traditional ingredients and dishes. And then we end the day with a blow-out Greek meal at Gregory’s 26 Corner Taverna.

Check out the adventure below and if you happen to live in New York, you can do it yourself. I love this city!!
