100 BEST ’15: IT CAME FROM GOWANUS at AMPLE HILLS CREAMERY

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2015…

It Came From Gowanus at AMPLE HILLS CREAMERYI really don’t have a good excuse as to why I’ve never officially reviewed one of the city’s best ice cream makers, Ample Hills. But I can’t ignore their great concoctions. This year, I was blown away by their toxic sludge inspired chocolate ice cream. For those that don’t know, the nearby Gowanus Canal has been one of the most polluted waterways in history. The dark chocolate base is mixed with white chocolate pearls, orange-spike chocolate brownie pieces, a crack cookie mix-in with hazelnuts, and who knows what else. It might look terrifying, but it’s all delicious.
