100 BEST ’15: AREPAS at AREPA FACTORY

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2015…

SADLY, AREPA FACTORY IS NOW CLOSED.

Reina Pepiada Arepa at AREPA FACTORYFor years, the very popular Caracas had the stronghold on Venezuelan snacks in the East Village. Recently Arepa Factory opened a few blocks away and gave the old stalwart a run-for-its-money. Their toasted corn cakes known as arepas come in a few interesting varieties like oatmeal, chia, and spinach. When they are stuffed with classic fillings like chicken avocado salad or creative ones like cconut lamb, they are absollutely incredible. Price: $7.75-$12.95
