100 BEST ’15: ANTICUCHOS at EL ANZUELO FINO

I’m counting down the 100 best dishes I tasted in 2015…

Anticuchos at EL ANZUELO FINO

This was the year of the heart for me. I’ve enjoyed veal heart in a few different ways and while at one time I might have been hesitant to eat it, now I’m a seasoned pro. The Peruvians do it all the time. They’re called anticuchos and the marinated veal hearts are skewered and grilled. At El Anzuelo Fino, they are smoky and meaty. Honestly, you’d never know these were internal organs if I didn’t tell you. So sorry, but also, you’re welcome. Price: $10
